I have a 2001 Ram 1500 4WD with about 120,000 miles and the ball joint in the center link has gone bad. It just has a lot of play it it and pops when the steering wheel is moved back and forth. How safe is it to drive the truck until I can get another one to put on it? How difficult is it to replace? It appears to be relatively simple, but I just figured I would ask anyway. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is very dangerous to drive like that. If it comes apart, you will loose control of the steering and the truck.

They are easy to replace. You just need a ball joint spliter. It looks like a big fork with two prongs on it.

Let me know if you have other questions.
