2000 Dodge Ram My truck won't stay on.

I have an 2000 dodge ram 1500 V-6. Lately the truck won't stay on. It starts up and will go to 1000 rpm then quickly shut off. I recently replaced my battery and alternator, but I don't think any of those have anything to do with this new problem. Yesterday I did discover one of my spark plug cables was loose from the cap. I tightened it and the truck ran fine. Now nothing. Please help me with any ideas.

Clean out and test the idle air control valve and see what happens
