2000 Dodge Ram V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I took a newly rebuilt motor and newly rebuilt tranny from a 2000 Ram 1500 and had them put in a 1996 Ram 1500. Got it running but never right. Now it mis fires so bad we can't drive it. The motor and tranny ran perfect in the 2000.

Do a cylinder balance test. What this means is you will isolate each cylinder one at a time by removing the injector connector or spark plug wire and giving it an alternate ground.

Once you found the dead cylinder(s) test spark, fuel and compression to all the cylinders. You will most likely find one that is missing.

Also, have you scanned the vehicle yet? Maybe you missed a harness connector when you put the new engine in.

Hi guys. One more note. The flex plates may be different. To be safe, use the '96 flex plate with the '96 Engine Computer. If there are a different number of holes for the crankshaft position sensor to detect, it will confuse the computer. It counts the number of holes to know which cylinder is coming up on TDC.
