I purchased a 1999 dodge 2500 and when I got it it had minor tranny problems I fixed them and it ran great for about 2 months then it began to misfire and smoke on heavy acceleration its misfiring on cylinder 8 I replaced the plugs, coil wire, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and an o2 sensor. It Burns about 4 qts of 10 w 40 a week. Before it began to misfire the coil wire split and I replaced it not long after it began to misfire. I believe it could be an o ring or valve stem seals but am unsure and don't know how much this should cost to repair or If it is easy to do myself

How many miles do you put on it to use 4 quarts? Did it use oil before? Is the exhaust always blue? If you remove the #8 plug, is it oil filed? As far as valve seals, I can't imagian that you would use that much oil in a week.

Let me know about the plug itself. Also, I will need you to check compression in cylender 8. Finally, is there any oil mixing with coolant in the radiator or overflow jug?

Let me know.

Joe

I put about 450-600 miles on it to use that much the plug is oil fouled and there is no oil in the coolant resevoir. I have not been able to run a compression check on it however I do believe it has oil on the headers around the plug it is discolored in that area but there are no oil spots on the ground and I found no oil behind on the block just what seems to be a wet substance around the plug
