I have a 99 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.9l. All of the sudden my blinker and radio works with my key in the off position. I have tried moving the ignition to make sure it is really in the off position. This problem is intermittent. I also assume other things are working that shouldn't be as my battery will die when having the issue even if I make sure the radio is off. What could my problem be?

Hi:
I would start with having the ignition switch checked. It may be going bad. Also, make sure all body grounds are good. Power could be making a ground through the radio and the blinkers.

Let me know what you find.

Thanks I'll get those checked out. I have been really leaning towards an ignition switch but figured I'd get some more experienced answers before I tear into the steering column.
Will a haynes manual (only one I can find locally) tell me where to look for all the body grounds?

Haynes is a good book for general repairs. If you check under the electrical, it should provide wiring schematics for different circuits. Just take a look to see. Some Hayns manuals may be more indepth than others.

Let me know if you have questions. I have access to a good manual on line that may be helpful. Only problem, I can't cut and paste from it.

Just a thought but if it were a body ground wouldn't the problem be all the time instead of intermittently?
