the hood release does not work. How can I release the hood?

Is the cable broken or handle broken? If not than have a helper pull on release handle while you jar on the hood near the lever, it should pop open if the latch just needs lubricated. If the cable is broken though you may have to go up through the grille with a screwdriver to flip the lever manually.
