1994 Dodge Ram fuel system

When ever my truck gets low on gas, around a 1/4 tank it starts hesitating and will not accelarate, will lose power and only go about 20mph, the check engine light will come on and then go off if I put more gas in, also as it loses power it will make popping sounds in the engin compartment and yes I am sure that my fuel gauge is accurate. We are poor please help, will donate when we can

Hi and welcome to 2carpros

1st we need to know what that check engine light code/s is. You might want to check out autozone parts store and get it read for free.

Meanwhile with a repair manual-you can check the fuel pressure, inspect for exhaust system restriction-ruling out the catalytic converter/mufflers and last the throttle postion sensor closed and wide open throttle voltages.
