I was driving my car this morning and it was running fine. I was going to make a turn, and as I did it started to make a squealing noise. Then I came to a stop sign, and when it was my turn to go, tried to turn. However, my car would not move. So I stopped and started my car again and it started right up and turned just fine. Then it started making the squealing noise again. It then started to slow down. I pulled off and stopped and started my car again and it did the same thing. It would start to move fine, then squeal, then slow down, then stop moving. I've heard anywhere from a belt to catalytic converter to transmission.

You can eliminate the belt by checking them to see if they are tight.A loose belt shouldnt stop the car from moving, it could cause the hard steering though. Have you checked the trans fluid? When it wouldnt move, was the engine still runing, but the car wouldnt go?
