My car just failed the e-check for a high amount of Nirton oxide. What repairs do you suggest first?

EGR valve not working properly. Oxides form when cumbustion temp is too high. The EGR circulates exhaust gas into cumbustion and lowers temp thus eleminating the oxides of nitrogen
