2001 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 104k miles

My Intrepid R/T has 104,000 miles and I just had the intake gasket replaced due to shooting antifreeze out of the exhaust. After previously running synthetic oil through I switched to a thicker regular oil to help lubricate better. 20w50. The day of the switch the car started ticking on the right side(as you sit in the car). I switched back to synthetic and it is still ticking. Any ideas?

20W50 is really a heavy oil for today's cars. Because of close bearing tolerances, most manufacturers are using 5W30, 5W20, and even 0W20. If I had to guess, I would say there was a lack of oil pressure may have caused a lifter to collapse.
