Hi, I put together a dodge intrepid, that needed the heads put back on the car. Have the car together to start it, and it starts and immediatley goes to 4200 rpm and stays. The car has sat with a bad battery for at least 7 months. Any ideas on why it idles so high. I have tested the tps and the throttlebody and everything is good.

Check for vacuum leaks, thats usually the culprit, check for disconnected vacuum hoses, maybe a pinched one.

I checked the vacum lines everything correct. It is idleing at rev limiter. About 4200rpm. Like throttle is wide open. The throttle is closed.

It could be many problems that would cause a high idle such as this, but most common issues I have see are: faulty idle control solenoid. MAP sensor. IAC valve. Check those and ensure they are connected properly and wires are not loose.
