Computer problem
1999 Dodge Intrepid Automatic

Is there a difference between the two? I was told I need to replace the PCM and I am only finding ECMs everywhere. I am beginning to think they are the same

Different companies choose different names for their vehicle's main computer. Yes, powertrain control module (PCM) and engine control module (ECM) are the same and in this case Dodge uses PCM to identify their computer, however local auto part stores may call it by ECM. Just do NOT get either of these confused with the body control module (BCM) as that IS something different..
