1997 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Automatic

I just purchased this car about week ago. the man said it was in limp mode, and would not shift out of low gear. so, he put another tranny in it. then he said the same thinig was happening. so,, then he put another computer in it and it wouldnt start! we put another computer in it and it will start just fine, again just low gears. We have changed out most of sensors, what else could be causing this>

the car needs to have the correct TCM in it, if you call a dealer and give them your VIN and engine size they will give you the correct part of the TCM that it should have. Next to the battery is the fuses and relays for all the cars main controls. You may have the wrong Tcm, there may be a fuse out, a relay may be missing or there could be a bad connection somewhere. It sounds like there was a problem someone couldn't find a fix for so he got rid of it. The sections on this website explain testing fuses, relays, electronic transaxles and how they work and how to check them. One step at a time, a 10 cent wire could cause a 3000 dollar unit to stay in 2nd gear all the time. That code means a bad TCM or it's fuse or relay usually. ok let me know, I do these all the time. bye for now. joe
