Engine Performance problem
1994 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 150000 miles

I replaced the intake manifold gasket on a 94 intrepid 3.5L and now it will not start unless I hold down the gas pedal. If I let off the pedal the engine dies. It doesn't run well at all when I am holding down the pedal.

There isn't any black smoke coming from the tailpipe so I don't think it's flooding.
I listened for vaccum leaks holding a large hose to my ear.
Each plug seems to be firing because the idle drops when unplugged.

any thoughts on what might be causing the problem.

Might need a mininum air adjsutment

Inspect and test the following idle air control valve/throttle position sensor/exhaust gas recirculating valve.

:D Thank you very much for your help. It lead me in the right direction.

I replaced the idle air control value and throttle position sensor which allowed the car to run well enough for me to discover a leaky EGR fitting.

After tighting the EGR up, it idled well but missed during acceleration.

I replaced the wires and spark plugs after that.

Turns out that the coil pack was not sending enough spark to two cylinders.

(I suspect that replacing the intake gasket caused all of the problems. When in actuality it was the coil pack causing problems the whole time)
