I am having a problem w/ switch or key, car want start using the key

Are the electricals working (i.E. Headlights, radio etc.)? Does the key turn properly in the ignition cylinder? Check for anti theft light to ensure it is on staying on solid, if it is then you may have an issue with the vehicle's anti theft system.
