I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota, 3.9 V-8, AT, 2WD with 173,000. Check engine light came on. I changed the gas cap and it went off for about an hour then came back on. I cycled the ignition switch and got code P0121. What is it and what steps can I take to repair it without going to the dealer? Thanks.

P0121 trouble code indicates you have an issue with you Throttle Position Sensor or TPS. These are easily replaced and cost between $20-$80 depending on where you buy them...dealers being the most expensive...of course. The TPS is located right on the Throttle body (drivers side), is held on by only two hex screws...easy as cake to replace.
