My '98 Dodge Dakota with 138000 miles has started to run hot. I have had the cooling system flushed out and replaced the thermostat but this did not help. The coolant is not leaking out and it does not boil over but you can hear boiling sounds when the engine is turned off. It also seems to overheat faster if I make short stop and go again before it has a chance to cool. Also the warmer the ambient temperature is the faster it will over heat. Any idea on what the problem may be? Thanks

Did you have a all youre hoses checked as well. Sometimes a colasped hose could cause problems, Also you could still have air in youre coolant system, To bleed the air out of the system, U need to open youre rad cap off, Then allow youre truck to warmup for about 5-10mins until it reaches normal temp, Then turn youre trucks heater on full blast on hot, Allow it to idle for about 3-5 mins, Then whlie the truck is idling, Put the rad cap back on, It should be good, If not I would take a closer look at youre truck Rad, Could have blockage in the rads cores, In which only way to tell is run you hand in front of the rad, Feel for hot spots, If there is alot of cold spots then hot spots u have blockage, U need either a new rad.

Good Luck.
