My 2001 Dakota will not idle. I had not driven it for a few weeks, and when I tried to start it, it wouldn't. After giving it some gas I got it started but it will not idle. I can keep it running after getting it started with the smallest amout of pressure possible on the pedal, even just the wait of my foot will keep it running, and running fine I might add not rough at all but once your take your foot off it dies.

Check the tps voltage and compare itto specs with no throttle pressure then just enough to keep it going.

Is there a big difference between the two?

Disconnect IAC module also does that make it run better?
