My dakota just started dying while driving, can wait few minutes restarts, will do so in driveway. Am elderly mileage is around 73k original know for fact! Notice exhaust moisture is loaded w/ black carbon smells good when starting cold. Have no code reader only indication is when engine dies only light is oil light no bucking no back fire?Broad coverage Chilton book no real help was dealer maintained and in tip top shape w/ orignial tags showing. Most garages w/ computer reader want $50 just to hook up to computer, retired and wondering if simple cure w/ ethanol gas or what?

Your codes can be read for free at some auto parts stores, and they print you out the codes being thrown and you can check them out here. When it dies does it hesitate to start back up? It is a tough thing to diagnose without more information
