I recently had the water pump and the alternator replaced. After the repair the car seemed to have a higher pitched engine noise than usual at operating speeds. Now when I start the car cold there is a high pitched whine coming from the engine area. It mostly disappears after the car warms up. The noise seems to increase when cold and I turn the car steering wheel. Any comments?

The tensioner may not have the holding power it once had. When it was released to change the parts, it may not have returned to the tension it should have. IT is also possible that there is a belt alignment issue with one of the two new parts. There may be a bearing problem with one of the two new parts. Lastly the belt may be glazed.
