Electrical problem
2004 Dodge Caravan Front Wheel Drive Automatic 18000 miles

I have a problem with my battery draining down slowly. At first I thought it was a bad battery and went out and picked up a new one and installed it the van started up and ran great ! Problem solved! No. The next morning had the same problem the motor started but just barely I have a alarm and thought that this might be causing the problem so I left the alarm off and the next day the battery was dead again! I noticed that when it starts the inside lights on the dome flicker slightly but the alt. Seams to be charging o.K. Because I can shut off the motor and it will start up just fine. Also the lights are bright. Do you think the alt. Might have a short in the voltage regulator? This van only has 18,000 miles on it and is well taken care of what the heck could be causing this problem?

Go to Checker O'Reilly and have them test your electrical system. They will go out and test your battery, starter, and alternator. That will eliminate which unit is the problem. If all of them check out good, then you have a short circuit somewhere.
