My car keeps surging. The rpm will go every wich way. And this morning it would die when I was stopped at a stop light. I have cleaned the throddle body and I have checked for a vacume leak. Do you think it could be that I need to change the feul filter or maybe the IAC valve.

Hi:
The IAC or the throttle position sensor (TPS) could cause this. However, I would think it would kick the check engine light on. You may want to take the van to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most stores will do it for free. If nothing is found, you may want to test fuel pressure to see if it's where it needs to be and steady. You may want to check it before and after the fuel filter.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
