Engine Performance problem
2001 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive 176000 miles

Thanks for helping,
my Caravan now has the MIL light staying on. I did the key trick, code P0403 comes up. I need help with what next? Only recent things done to engine were new gaskets for valve cover and pan to stop drips. That was 4000 miles ago. At 1st thouhgt bad tank of gas. Was on the road. One cold start light was off for short time. Less than 3 minutes.
Please steer me in right direction. Also, will code go off once repaired?

Check exhaust for leak
repair exhaust as necessary and retest
if all OK you need a scanner to actuate a test and check wiring
pink/gray wire at the EGR for power

Update: I ahve since pulled and capped teh vacuum line from the EGR solenoid(?) To the EGR valve. Engine runs much better at idle. Drove about 400 miles and now MIL is off. Do I need new solenoid or EGR valve?
