Absolutely not. If your van has the 4 speed 41TE trans axle it is a great unit. It's the mileage that you might be worried about. The trans came out late in 1988 so it was first available on the 88 and 3/4 model year. Most cars, and I was taught this in tech. school, are made to last 6 years or 60,000 miles. Of course any van like yours that has had regular maintenance will last a lot longer. So if the van was maintained properly it could go another 100,000 miles. It wasn't a weak trans, just a misunderstood one that shifted in a manner most customers were not used to. Good luck to you.
