I bought a scanner, one of the cheap ones of course. I was able to confirm misfiring in one of the cylinders. Anyway, the interesting part, the guy at the parts store had a puzzled look when I explained that doing the key trick was not revealing any codes. He was sure that even with OBD-II, the key process should still work. Furthermore, since it has not worked, I may have a problem with the chips (PCM, ECM, etc.) Anyone have a conflicting opinion on this one? It makes sense to me.
--Finally got time to dig into this one. It turned out that one of the spark plugs barely had a "nubbin" of an electrode left. It was in the number 1 cylinder, but my codes were showing misfires in number 3. Any explanation? Changed the plugs and wires, runs great now!
