1996 Dodge Caravan Van problems

I drove my 96 dodge today and noticed a sudden shake. It happened faster than I could react. I drove it today for around an hour without a problem and on the way home, a sudden jult. That was it. My mom complained earlyer in the day about the van shaking and it stalled out. I have no clue what could be wrong because I drove it and the shifting was smooth, the engine seems to run smooth. Its a problem that accures all of the sudden and fast from what I experienced. Aslo noticed gas gage moving from the half full to emty and back to where it was.

Hi
Suspect either ASD or fuel pump relay is droping out this would cause pump to stop ie. Jolt and gague would drop. Don't know how to verify other than replace relay see if it stops. ASD and fuel same relay could buy one try in ASD first if all good if not go to fuel pump next.
