I'm trying to diagnose a front end rattling noise that seems to be coming from the front passenger side. It's most noticeable when hitting bumps, at higher speeds and when turning right. At 70 mph it is fairly rapid, like a singer rolling his R's. When I "shake" the tire I can hear and feel play. The steering wheel also vibrates with the noise.
My first thought was a wheel bearing so I took the front end apart, but the bearing seemed OK no play or visible wear. The transaxle seemed to have some slop so I replaced that - no change. I didn't inspect the ball joint thoroughly but it seemed tight when I was replacing the transaxle.
I replaced the brake pads while I had it torn apart.
