On a Dodge, the computer that controls the engine is called a powertrain control module(PCM). Check all the fuses in the power center next to the battery, and thats where you'll find the PCM, on a 96, it was mounted on the left inner fender behind the battery. Ok Your getting a code for an internal failure. I would have it scanned again, and be sure it's the PCM and not the transmission module(TCM) that has failed, after you test the fuses, ok.
