Heater is weak

I just recently traded for the car listed above and was wondering what are the most common problems with them. So far I have noticed lights flickering and hardly any heat.

Those are not common issues for that car upper engine mount the intake manifold leaks vacuum by the power steering pump area. Also the bore for the pressure regulator wears in the upper valve body for the transmission. Sometimes the input nut for the transmission loosens up. Every car has common issues I would just take it one day at a time.

What would cause high idle also? Been noticing it idling at around 1700 rpm when not in gear and when I put it in gear it idles around 900 rpm.

Have you checked the computer for codes yet? You could have a vacuum leak or a bad idle air control valve. There is a short hose from your intake manifold to the valve cover going to your PVC. See if it is collapsed or has holes in it?
