Hi,
When I start my car for the first time in the morning, and put it in drive the engine turns off. If I leave it in park after I turn it on and let the car warm up for a minute then I have no problem for rest of the day.
Also, the engine makes a whining noise climbing a slope, which goes away if I give some more throttle.
Otherwise the car runs just fine.
I would greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you

Alex John

The information provided is not much for us to go on so I am taking a calculated guess and that is the idling speed is too low. Try cleaning the throttle body and IAC.

As to the noise, you need to find out what is causing it.

There is no Idle air control valve. The idle is controlled by the PCM which in turn operates the Electronic Throttle Motor. Try cleaning the throttle body with appropriate cleaner. Turn the ignition switch in the "on" position and have someone press the accelerator pedal to the floor. Using the cleaner apply it to a clean lint free rag and wipe inside the throttle body and plate very well. Make sure the cleaner is safe for electronic parts as this is very critical. Tell me how that works out for your idle. As for your whine, check the power steering reservoir to make sure it is full. There may be air leaking into the power steering pump causing the pump to whine. Try to replace the suction hose o-ring and pressure hose o-ring and see how it works out for your whine.
