Had new catalytic converter put on last month check engine light came on brought back to my mechanic faulty EVAP valve replaced. Now code po455 piped up gross leak. Gas cap is okay, my check gas cap came on then went off and the engine light came back on. I think there might be a hole in line. I have been smelling a little fuel smell in the cabin. Going back on Monday get it check out. First code was po497 this time only po455 came up. Please advise. Thanks, Steve Fleischman

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Since there was just work done, chances are something is disconnected on the rear of the vehicle by the fuel tank. I have attached a picture of the hoses and components related to the EVAP system. Take a look at the pic and then inspect those hoses for damage, connection, or like you said, a hole.

I don't know where you live, but if you are in a climate where salt is used to treat the roads in winter, inspect the fuel filler tube from under the vehicle. I have seen them rust.

If you can't find it, the next step is to smoke the system. Basically, fog or smoke is put into the EVAP system and where the leak is, the smoke will exit.

Let me know if any of this helps. Also, if you know specifically what EVAP valve was replaced, it may help me narrow it down for you.

Take care,
Joe
