My truck started shifting strangely so ran a test on it, got code P0709. Replaced transmission position sensor and still acted up. I took it to Ford and had a friend run a test and he said it was the neutral switch sensor so I replaced that and it still acts up. It only acts up sometimes and only when slowing down or taking off, not in higher speeds. Could it be the wiring?

Hello,

I show no Direct Trouble Code(DTC) P0709 for a 1997 Ford Ranger 2.3L 2WD Automatic Transmission Pickup in either Alldata or Mitchell 1. Are you sure you have got the Dtc # correct?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello again,

I have included in the diagrams down below the Direct Trouble Code (DTC) list from The Ford Motor Company for your vehicle from DTC P0703 - DTC P0733. I do not show DTC P0709. Please double check for me again. I would love to help, but if I don't know what's wrong, I can't fix it.

Thanks,
Alex
