six cylinder front wheel drive automatic 104,200 miles

Question: 1. While the windshield wipers were in motion they suddenly stopped; we can hear the motor, however, the wipers will not move. The wipers had to be manually pulled down off the windshield to the off position. Do we need a new motor or could something could have come off track?
Question: 2. Could this problem be related to the windshield wiper fluid motor? We recently purchased the vehicle and have been unable to get the water to come through the wipers.
Thanks

1. The chances are the drive system, not the motor came off. It is possible the motor drive has rounded off but very rare.
2. No, I do not think the washer pump has anything to do with it. However if it was serviced, or the wipers were lifted and moved, this may have caused this problem. By accident. Okay nice van.

Thanks. So will it be safe to just replace the motor to get the wipers working again?

Replace the motor if the linkage (track) is attached. but the motor drive is not functioning properly. The linkage or track, may be at fault and the motor drive may be okay. Must be inspected. The washer pump is also controlled by the wiper multifunction switch but is not the cause of them not moving. Just not squirting cleaner, and washing. There are little hoses on the blades or hood for this. and a small pump in the washer reservoir pumps this fluid. Usually, okay.
Take the cowl and covers off to check before ordering anything. For each system.
That is best. Good motoring. Wiper motoring that is. Often, the linkage comes apart.

Six cylinder two wheel drive automatic 181,000 miles

the wipers work at times and not at others. I have replaced the multifunction switch and the wiper motor with used parts. Is there a test sequence that you know of to narrow down the search and see if maybe the used parts are also bad or if the BCM is faulty?

First, when they do not work, have you checked to see if there is power to the wiper motor?

Six cylinder two wheel drive automatic 95,000 miles

My wipers have stopped working. I have had the wiper motor replaced in the past. For a while the wipers would just come on even when they were not 'on'. Even when I would unlock my car with the keyless entry they would go on. And then they would only work in the fastest speed. Last week they had stopped working but when I nudged them they would start again. This time they started and died right in the middle of the windshield. I feel that the problem is in the control switch on the shifter. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
It could be the switch, but before you change that, check to see if you are getting power to the motor. If you are, the motor is bad. If you have no power, check for broken wires near the firewall and work your way back to the switch.

Let me know what you find.

Six cylinder two wheel drive automatic 170,00 miles

My wipers only work if I push the washer button, then only for one swipe. We have replaced the turn signal stem on the steering wheel to no avail. I have heard of many people replacing main controllers and other expensive electrical chips, only to have to problem reappear shortly thereafter. Help!
