What is involved in removing the spiderlike thing that goes over the top of the engine to remove the spark plugs? Thanks for your reply.

I believe you are talking about the intake ports. The cover comes off with 2 front clips and 2 near the back. Left and right side. You don't need to take the intake port off to change the plugs. You will need a socket rachet. An extension and a toggle extension then your sparkplug socket. The toggle is like a 2 jointed extension that allows the socket to wobble in any direction, yet lets you apply tightening or loosening torque. It bends enough to allow the socket into the sparkplug well and allows the regular extension to be offset to miss the intake port, but still be able to twist or ratchet the sparkplug.
