Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 93000 miles
Yesterday when driving to school, upon reaching 45 MPH, my car makes this loud road noise. It sounds similar to when driving over the metal grating on a draw bridge. The noise occurs at 45 MPH and gets louder with more speed. The noise doesn't occur on turning. My tires aren't super new, but have atleast 8,000 miles of life left on them. I've always used the same brand of tires, and aside from the occasional belt separation, I have had very few tire issues. Could this be a bad bearing or maybe my wheel threw a tire weight?
And yes, my tires are properly inflated.
Hi: Make sure the tires are not cupped or worn in an odd way. They may still have tread, but they may have uneaven wear. Also, a wheel bearing will make a noise like you described. However it will usually get louder when you turn one way and quietier the other way. Regardless, have them checked.
