ABOUT EVERY 3-4 MONTHS IT SEEMS THAT THE LIGHT COMES ON AND RUN FINE BUT IT DOES BURN MORE GAS, HAVE CHANGED THE PLUGS AND WIRES TO SEE IF THAT WAS PROBLEM BUT STILL HAPPENS, THE TIMING BELT BROKE ABOUT A YR AND 1/2 AGO AT ABOUT 148000 MILE, HAVE HAD PUT ON THE COMPUTER AND IT SHOWS A MISS FIRE BUT DID NOT FEEL ANYTHING THAT WOULD FEEL LIKE A MISS, THIS HAS ME STUMPED

When the engine light comes on again you need to have the trouble codes scanned with a diagnostic scanner. The code(s) retrieved will pinpoint the cause of the engine light being illuminated. From the symptoms you have described it is probably just a faulty oxygen sensor.
