I have a 97 Chrylser Tahoe with 170,000 miles on it, I am wondering if the starter and the alternator can go out at the same time?
Thanks

Ooops! Chevy Tahoe. I took it to the shop, they replaced the starter, the car started but then the battery drained so they did another test and had to replace the alternator.

I've seen stranger. A car can make a shop look bad. But a bad shop makes all shops look bad.

MAybe this is a weak way of looking at it, but I'm going to type it anyways. A truck with 170,000 miles is much more likely to run into parts going bad at close intervals, parts do wear out. However it is much more economical to repair the truck than replace it. Alternaters and starters are hard to predict a life span. When they are re-built (all parts are not replced inside) or remanufactured (all wear parts are replaced) they time period will vary greatly. IF they were original, they didn't owe you anything.
Hope this helps the buyer remorse. :)
