I have an 87 Chrysler New Yorker with 100,000 miles. The car is automatic with a 2.5L engine.

The car has become difficult to start. A few days ago, the "Power Loss" light came on while I was driving. I drove home and parked the car for a few hours, but when I tried to start it again, it wouldn't start. I added gas and the car started. The next day on the way home from work, I noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust. I stopped to check it and noticed it had an unusual odor(I associated it with either radiator fluid or brake fluid - maybe mistakenly). I checked the fluid levels, which were both a little low, but figured with the white smoke, I had a head gasket leak. The car was difficult to start but once it got started, still ran great. Yesterday I replaced the head gasket and the car started immediately. But after I shut is down to adjust the tension on the belts it wouldn't start again. Also, the exhaust has the same smoke and odor. What is going on?

I had the same problem, check your pumps and gaskets, just after I had smoke everything started to go on the car, and my water pump no longer works. So my advise. Check that and check for other potential leaks. A clear sign thattheres moistuer of any kind is wetness under the tail pipe.
