Make sure the engine oil level is fine, if OK check oil pressure with gauge. If low it could be weak oil pump

Could the noise be due to a bad knock sensor?

Yes a faulty knock sensor could allow engine knocking to occur. The knock sensor senses when their is a knock and tries to retard the timing so that the knock will go away. Faulty knock sensor will normally cause check engine light to come on

The timing chain was chainged at 60 thousand to the best of my knowlege, and I am thinking tht could have compramised the knock sensors ability to work properly, is there any other things I can try to resolve the knock if not the oil pump or knock sensors?

It this more of a strong, loud knock or a smaller weak knock? Strong knocking usually sounds like rattling noise from the engine area. If this is the case then several things can cause it including the oil pressure is low, knock sensor bad or using wrong octane of fuel. If all of these are OK then make sure the timing is set properly and check the engine oil to see if there are any metal flakes in it.
