Screaming electric door locks

When I lock my doors, the locking mechanism in the rear doors makes a loud screaming noise. Both locking and unlocking. But, after unlocking electrically, I still have to reach inside and manually lift the lock latch to be able to open the door. FYI, you cannot manually lift the button if you have not unlocked the door electrically first. This seems like some kind of issue with the child proof system but it is properly disabled.

What can I do to fix this annoying problem? This car still looks and drives like new except for these locks. Best car I've ever owned. After 10 years I am still on all original parts except for the tires. Even the battery is still original.

Hi agentmonty,

Symptom indicates the door lock motor is bad and requires replacement to resolve the problem. The motor is overrunning due to something going bad with the motor causing the screaming noise. You would need to remove the door panel to get at the motor.

This guide will show you what you are in for when trying to remove the door panel

Here are diagrams to show you how to replace the door lock motor.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers
