The battery inside of my 2000 chrysler cirrus won't charge, so I had the alternator tested and the brushes checked, and it looks great. I also doubt it's the starter. When I low test the battery, I get 12V so the battery isn't bad, but when I turn on the A/C and the headlights my voltage at 1000 rpm drops to 12.9 volts. I would hate to check each and every wire individually, so are there any directions you guys can point me to?

Hi xboxsteven. Welcome to the forum. Start by measuring the voltages on the two small terminals on the back of the alternator while the engine is running. One must have full battery voltage and the other one must have less but not 0 volts. Those readings will tell us where to go next.

Found a fusing coil at the positive of the battery that was clean burned in half. Replaced with a new fusing coil and crimped the broken end of the wire leading to the alternator to the new fusing coil. Voltage jumped from 12.0 V at idle for the battery to 14 V. Hopefully this is the fix I was looking for. If battery still does not charge, I will update this question accordingly.

Dandy. 13.75 to 14.75 volts with the engine running is the goal.
