I found my car would not start so I put a battery charger on the battery and it showed it needed a charge. So I put it up to jump start and while I was trying to start the car the positive post started smoking so I stopped and finished charging the battery slowly. After the charge when I tried to start the car the care cranked slowly and the negative battery post started smoking.
What can I do?
Thanks Jennifer

First, make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. You may want to remove them, clean both the terminal and post, and then retighten them. Also, if you follow the ground wire, it will lead to the engine block. Make sure it is tight and clean.

If you still have the problem, I need you to take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them check the starter draw. It may be drawing too many amps causing the terminals to overheat.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Joe
