Where is the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor on 81 454

I am the original owner of a 1982 CrossCountry by Sportscoach on a 1981 P30 chassis with a 454 Chevy V8.

Engine overheated by blown lower radiator hose due to faulty service repair. Since repair the temp gauge at cold reads above mid point and advances to the H position during driving. Engine seems to run fine and when engine cover is opened the engine doesn't seem to be too hot even with the temp gauge is at H. The thermal fan engages when temp gets to the H mark and the temp drops down into the "red" zone below H and fan disengages.

Would overheating affect the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor? Where is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor located?

Thanks for the help.

I don't think an 82 has one! You have a temp sending switch, it's a single wire sensor usuaaly in the intake manifold.
