1979 Camaro died while driving NEED HELP!

(1979 Chevy Camaro Z-28 5.7liter 68,000rebuilt miles))Ok well I was driving home and I gave the gas a little throttle as I drove the previous 3 days the lights seemed to dim out but when I gave it gas the got brighter and my volt meter moved torwards more charge but when it was towed home the battery was dead I charged the battery and it turns freely but now it just wont run it to me seems electrical but im not sure please help me out

Check the alternator.

We checked the alternator it was fine my battery is fine also I fully charged it and for some reason my cranks over but it just doesnt seem to fire im not sure where to look?

Check the battery cables at the starter for a broken or corroded wire that would be ignition power

Well I dont have spark but the rotor under the distributor cap spins and im not sure if it could be my timing or the points if it is the points how do I replace them or adjust them?
