I have a 1998 v-8 automatic suburban. I have been having the service engine soon light come on. I used a code reader and the codes 131, 151 etc. Are given for o2 sensors. Changed them and the same thing keeps happening. It is not the o2 sensors but the codes keep being given. The vehicle runs fine for a little while, sometimes a few minutes sometimes days on end, after clearing the codes. Then out of the blue it happens again. Always with the same codes. The vehicle looses rpms and bogs down sometimes worse than others. Seems to be worse on hills and when fuel tank is below half or even when full. The indicator comes on then when I clear the codes it runs fine until the indicator comes on again.?

Hello
Thanks for the donation.

The DTCs are a very good diagnosis tool that helps pinpoint the culprit of the vehicle. However, it does not always point out the EXACT culprit. In this case, I would suggest having your catalytic converter(s) checked out. One or more may be clogged which will cause intermittent symptoms that you are having. The O2 sensor codes will pop up if there is a problem with the cat. Converter.

Hope this helps.
