Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Chevy Suburban V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 200k + miles

the engine sputtered a couple times making the vehicle jerk, then just cut off. Now it sounds like it would start but wont. It does have power, it is getting gas in the carbeurator. We looked at the distributor cap and it does have corrosion on it, getting a new one. Replaced the spark plugs, plug wires look okay. We do keep the oil changed regular and do regular tune ups. Is there something else anyone can suggest we look at?

Disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors-
