1984 Chevy Suburban engine trys to turn on without key

1984 Chevy Suburban V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

since this problem has occered, i have replaced the ignition switch and the starter. as soon as i try to hook up the batterys, it trys to turn over without a key even in the ignition.

Double check your work on the ignition switch/lock could be out of position -it shouldn't do that-you replaced both.

Disconnect the battery and the purple wire on the starter solenoid-check for power at the purple wire while a helper hook the battery up-if you got power -you right back to the switch/lock
