Computer problem
2003 Chevy Silverado V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello, the speedometer on this vehicle was replaced and I was told that the vehicle needs to be driven between 92-100 MPH to set a sefety feature in the vehicle. Apparently, at 98 MPH, the speedometer safety feature kicks-in and the computer prevents the vehicle from going any faster. Is this true? I'm overseas in the military, can you send me some references showing this information? If I had a manual what type of manual and where can I find this information? Thank you, Sgt Gordon

Yes this is true. I dont know if you have to get it up to that speed to set it or not but your truck does have this feature. The manuel that came with your truck may say somthing about it, if not there are books you can pick up at most auto parts stores that are made for your truck and they will tell you anything about it you could ever want to know. They are about 50 bucks but they are worth it. Try looking at www. Advacedautoparts. Com for this manuel. You might can order it and have it sent to you.
