I have a 1997 chevy
Silverado that I bought used with 127,000 mi. And now it has 130,000 mi. Started having problems with the truck locking up in reverse. In the morning going to work the truck would start fine shift into reverse fine but would only roll about a foot before stopping. Rpm's would go up when pressing on the accelerator but wouldn't move. Like you are backed up against a wall. I have to shift into drive and reverse and rock the truck like I'm stuck in rut. It will go after that and then after truck is warmed up it is fine. It only does that in reverse If I back into my driveway and shift into drive in the morning there is no problem. Any suggestions?

You could also have a problem with the transfer case snap ring. Sometimes the snap ring that holds the output shaft in transfer case breaks of just pops off it binds the transfer case. Also I would double check the rear brakes to make sure that is not the cause of the locking issue. Hope this helps
