The motor has a random miss while driving at various speeds and rpms. The miss a sharp, dead spot that last for less that a second. Makes the tach jump and feels like it ran out of gas for a sec or went died. Sometimes the miss goes in a series and sometimes it just jumps every once in awhile. Started when I sprayed the motor at the car wash, had a BAD miss after that but cleared up but not totally. Thought it was the coil wire, it would not snap into the cap, replaced that but it started again. Then replaced the coil, that helped but started ramdom miss agian with in a few days. Plugs look good, wires are ok. Run 87 oct gas. Truck runs perfect except for this misfire, sometimes it doesn't do it for a day or two, sometimes it does it many times on a trip to the store ( 3 miles ).

Your problem really sounds like a spark plug or wire problem, especially since it started when you sprayed the motor at the carwash. If the dist. Cap& rotor, the spark plugs, and the spark plug wires have never been replaced, they should be. I'll bet that cures the misfire.

I sprayed the motor off 3 months ago, problem got alot better, it just never totally went away. I pulled #1 out, plug looked good. Wires are allitle iffy, I admitt that. Cap looks good, semi-new with no cracks. Thought at 1st I had water in the distrubtor then I had trouble with the coil wire and coil.

If your plugs, wires, cap & rotor have never been replaced, with the mileage on your truck, they should be. If you get 100,000 miles out of them, you did good. You've gotten a lot more than that. Often you can't see a problem w/a plug wire. The more you describe your problem, the more I think you have plug or wire trouble
